Well, i think that lending has its advantages and also disadvantages.
It's like what the book said, 'you risk the relationship by saying no, but you are taking a big risk by saying yes'.
If one day your best friend came to lend something from you,
you would certainly not reject it right? If you do not lend him/her something, you might break the friendship you've built for a very long time.
However, if you cannot afford it, it will be very difficult to say no.
He/She might think that you deliberately don't want to lend things to them.

If that person wants to lend a big some of money or a very valuable thing,
you would first come to think of whether he/she will return your thing to you.
And you might also wonder if what will happen if they do not want to return it back to you.
If you don't want to lend them, you will be probably spoiling the friendship.
But it's really up to you to decide whether you want to lend something to your friend.
It is the trust you have in your friendship.
Do cherish it till the very last second.

And to those people who lends things from your friends,
do return their things back to them. It may be important to them.
