To Miss Goh and 2e2'07

Miss Goh, if u ever come by here again.. could you give us any topics again? Reasons are, to make this blog lively and to bring back memories of 2e2'07. It would be good if the whole 2e2'07 could be posting journals again. Also, you can read what we post, according to your topic. We can see the reaction of past 2e2'07 class, if they comes here ever again and do the journal. It's a waste to let the blog "die" after it's "birth" less than a year. It contains all our own thoughts and feelings. Hope you would understand.

2e2'07!! Make sure all of you, or rather, maybe half of the class, continues to come to this blog. I'm posting this thread as to let you all know or remember, no one or nobody can replace us, even the current 2 sapphire'08. I know it's a brand new year with everyone in different classes, but do not lose 2e2'07. People who comes by and read this post, please come back next time to check whether Miss Goh posted a topic. By doing this, we might get more bonded, and memories of 2e2'07 will be more for us to remember in the future.

Best Regards,
Si Yi

Comments for Topic 3

Hey hey how are you guys doing? Hope you are enjoying your one week break!
I'm in school everyday, doing work...holidays are non-existent for teachers haha...But it's good in the sense that I can wake up late, come to school at my own sweet time, and have no students knocking at the door every few minutes asking to see teachers (that's the peril of sitting near the door...I have to answer the door!)

First of all I'd like to thank all you sweeties for your gifts and cards. I've never received so many gifts before! It really warms my heart to read the words you wrote, to see the effort put in in making the cards and selecting the gifts. Even every 'Happy Teachers' Day!' wished when you see me is an encouragement for me.

I'm so touched! Thank you people!

Your entries for this topic serve as an inspiration for me too! Reminds me of what kind of teacher I am now and how I can improve myself. Oh btw, many of you told me in your cards that you enjoyed my lessons. My eyes nearly popped out, because judging from your facial expressions (dazzzzzzzed) and the number of people sleeping or not paying attention during my lesson (many many many), I would have thought my lessons were the most boring ever! Thanks for the comfort, even if it's just out of politeness (ha!) or just to appease me (hoho!), I appreciate it anyhow :) This will be my motivation, at least till the next Teachers' Day! :p

I realise that for most of us, the teachers that impacted us most are our primary school teachers. Maybe for you guys, it's because you are only in Sec 2 and have not had particularly memorable experiences with a teacher. But after asking my peers the same question, the trend is rather apparent - primary school teachers do make a more lasting impression on students.

For me my favourite teacher is my Chinese teacher who taught me in P4 and 5. His name is Mr Kho. He was already rather old when he taught me, and for some time I've wondered if he's still alive. Imagine how pleased, not to say relieved, I was when I saw him recently. It turned out that he lives in the same block as my boyfriend haha! Anyway I can still remember his lessons. Always very interesting, gets me all psyched up for Chinese! With this kind of learning environment, it's no surprise that I became very good at the subject. So good that I could take Higher Chinese as a subject! But things took a down turn when we had a change of teacher in P6. Man, how I disliked the teacher! To be fair I think she was a rather good one, just that with such fond attachments to Mr Kho, I couldn't relate to her at all. So my Chinese went downhill from then on, eventually got forced to drop Higher Chinese in Sec 2 when I failed to perform in the examinations. Sad... But I'm glad that my English improved and hey now I'm an English teacher!
Well it's disheartening to read about the existence of abusive teachers in our schools. I really hope someone will put an end to this. Another kind of teachers, the oppressive kind, are also every student's nightmare. I had my fair share of experience with these, but now that I'm a teacher myself, I see where they are coming from. I don't pretend to speak for them, but I'm quite sure every teacher would want the best for our students. We have different ways of dealing with students based on our personalities and convictions, some effective, some not. But one thing for sure, everybody works hard for our students. If only all students can appreciate that. It's not a good feeling to slog yet get dissed, scolded, or blatantly booed by students!

In that light, I would say that Teachers' Day is a good day for students and teachers alike. Students would reflect and hopefully realise the effort teachers put in for them, and teachers may get huge doses of encouragement and satisfaction when their students express their appreciation for them!

Ahh...Teacher's Day would go down as one of my favourite days of the year from now on! :)

Happy Holidays people! See you in a few days' time!

Love,
Miss Goh

Journal Writing 3 - Lee Pin Hui :D

What are the qualities of a good teacher?

Well , actually it is really simple.Firstly, they must be caring towards students amd be patient to them as different students have their different level of understandings. They should be able to teach the students well and make sure that each and every one of them understand what the topic is all about.teaching at a pace which everyone can absorb it is also very important to students. When a student need help ,they will help and teach them without hesitation.Teachers could also come up with some interesting games which enable us to learn a lesson after it.A teacher should also be humorous and friendly towards their students.Students will be able to enjoy the class and have some fun instead of boring lessons.Besides these, students must also coorperate with the teachers to make lessons much interesting and enjoyable.

Tell me about your favourite teacher. He/She can be from your primary school or secondary school. Share about an incident which is particularly memorable to you. If you don't have a favourite teacher, share why is that so.

I have two favourite teachers in my primary school life. They are Mdm Xu and Mr Beh.Mdm Xu is my chinese teacher for Primary 6.She was really a good teacher. Why did I say so?Evidence? As many agrees, chinese is really a difficult subject to learn. It requires alot of effort to be able to score well in this subject. When I was in primary 5,my chinese results was really bad.I could hardly pass the subject. She was the one who showed me that actually it is not so difficult. She make the effort to find us information and research that was related to the topics. She would tried to explain each and every word clearly to us and make sure we really understand it well. She would also try to joke at times to fill the lessons with some colours.Even if she was really busy, she would still find time to give us extra lessons. The effort she had put in was really unable to describle. She was really a wonderful teacher and I will always remember her.Another teacher who I mentioned previously was my form teacher during primary 6.He was Mr Beh.Althought he was a male teacher,he was really caring and friendly towards students. He likes to joke with us and also to tell us stories as it was really stressful that year.He teaches us techniques to relieve stress and give us toilet break every now and then. His lessons is always lively and fun.He also taught us things that was out of the textbooks and explained things very clearly. He would also reward us with a small token if we show improvement in our results.I think this is what makes a wonderful and great teacher.

HAPPY BELATED TEACHER'S DAY!
A big thank you to all the teachers out there!:)

Journal Writing 3 - Celeste Yeo :D

Happy Teacher's Day!

What are the qualities of a good teacher?
To me, a good teacher should be one that is able to teach well. They are suppose to make their students understand what they are teaching, so that the students are able to learn. A teacher should also be friendly and humorous towards students. This makes lessons fun and exciting to learn and it can also be enjoyable. A teacher should also have passion in their job. They should really understand the students well and know each student's strength and weaknesses. A teacher should also be wise to give students good and appropriate advice at times. A teacher should also be forgiving towards his/her students. When the student forgets to bring his/her homework or forgets to bring things, a teacher should be forgiving and are willing to give chances. But of course, a student should not take advantage of a teacher's kindness and go overboard. Lastly, a good teacher would be one that respects the students. Student and teachers should respect each other in order to work well in the class.

Tell me about your favourite teacher. He/She can be from your primary school or secondary school. Share about an incident which is particularly memorable to you. If you don't have a favourite teacher, share why is that so.
My favourite teacher is from my primary school. She was my form teacher during primary 6. As it was a crucial year, she puts in effort to teach us and she understands us alot. On top of that, she is forgiving towards us and is willing to forgive us if we make mistakes. She believes that we can learn from our mistakes and not repeat the same mistake again. I think that she is really passionate about her job. A few months before my PSLE in October, she gave us extra lessons during the holidays and sometimes after school if we were free. She sacrifised her free time for marking and doing other things for us. I think that it should be the correct thing for a teacher to do for his/her students.

I don't know what to write already! Hahaha.
To all teachers out there, enjoy your day! :D

Journal Writing 3 - Siyi

gee~ last min forgot bout this journal writing.. *pif* such a hard topic for me..!! *ma ika!* <--don't need care ^^

1) What are the qualities of a good teacher..?

*silence..* Well, I'm not really sure about what makes a good teacher. However, i believe that the basic qualities of a good teacher must include being kind to students(but not too kind until got bullied), understanding(stress of students, etc), knows how to teach in order to let his students understand what is he teaching about(not like Mr Kaan..*no offense*), sometimes includes FUNNY jokes during the lesson(to make it more interesting) and NEVER EVER use violence on students(may cause phobia to students. like me..)

2)Tell me about your favourite teacher. He/She can be from your primary school or secondary school. Share about an incident which is particularly memorable to you. If you don't have a favourite teacher, share why is that so.(*Pif* This question muted me..)

It's needless to say, as I stated above, i had phobia against teacher. So, how did i even have a favourite teacher? Well, i don't really remember any of my teachers in my primary schools, except a horrible experience. *Should I really type it out? ^^ Don't think so XP*

Let's move on.. So, why i don't have a favourite teacher? It's simple! Whenever i sees a teacher, i stiffened up. I don't really communicate with teachers well and sometimes i tried to avoid them. I was afraid of teachers more then in secondary school. Why..? It's just because that i wanted to get rid of my phobia. I tried many times but yet I can't. ^^ I don't really hate teachers. Instead, i respect them..*rubbish I'm typing* However, if i have a choice, i would rather have a teacher that is not so easily bullied by students.*Nothing else to type.. Going more off topic..* But, a teacher like my primary school teacher should NOT be a way to teach students to obey.

This thing causes my phobia to get worst. I still remembered her face, her *treatment* towards students. That time, if i hadn't remembered wrongly, I was in primary 2 or 4..? *ahh!! i forgot!!*
However, i still could remember her name. *Let's name her Mrs N* Since the beginning of the year, Mrs N had been treating her students like trash. She uses violence, such as slapping the student on his face, pulling earlobes and using book/paper to hit on student head*not sure how hard it was* If you didn't bring a textbook/homework or pencil case for writing(whatever she needs to use), Mrs N would punish that person. I still remembered a horrible thing that happened to my friend. It happened after recess and she forgot to change into school uniform. Mrs N told her to change in front of the whole class. She cried but still obey. Mrs N is unreasonable! Isn't she? Even with small matters like not bringing a green pen for correction(such as pen no more ink reasons not accepted), or any other things, she would either slap/pull the ear. Of course, i had it once before. It made my phobia worst and i almost felt like crying. I was wondering why she didn't get sacked for the next year.

For no reason, whenever a teacher scolds/reprimanded me, i would feel like crying. However, it's not so worst as in now. I was very weak in primary school and thus very easily cry for no reason. I have more friends in secondary schools to support me and always there for me. Also, there are few numbers of teacher's there for me as well.. ^^ Not to mention who as i hadn't approached any yet.

Ek!! Is it off point? Opps.. I just typed what i think that's related.. ^^ *I'm hopeless* Please do not comment anything about my post. Thanks!

EOY IS COMING! EVERYONE, STUDY!!
