Journal Writing 3 - Celeste Yeo :D

Happy Teacher's Day!

What are the qualities of a good teacher?
To me, a good teacher should be one that is able to teach well. They are suppose to make their students understand what they are teaching, so that the students are able to learn. A teacher should also be friendly and humorous towards students. This makes lessons fun and exciting to learn and it can also be enjoyable. A teacher should also have passion in their job. They should really understand the students well and know each student's strength and weaknesses. A teacher should also be wise to give students good and appropriate advice at times. A teacher should also be forgiving towards his/her students. When the student forgets to bring his/her homework or forgets to bring things, a teacher should be forgiving and are willing to give chances. But of course, a student should not take advantage of a teacher's kindness and go overboard. Lastly, a good teacher would be one that respects the students. Student and teachers should respect each other in order to work well in the class.

Tell me about your favourite teacher. He/She can be from your primary school or secondary school. Share about an incident which is particularly memorable to you. If you don't have a favourite teacher, share why is that so.
My favourite teacher is from my primary school. She was my form teacher during primary 6. As it was a crucial year, she puts in effort to teach us and she understands us alot. On top of that, she is forgiving towards us and is willing to forgive us if we make mistakes. She believes that we can learn from our mistakes and not repeat the same mistake again. I think that she is really passionate about her job. A few months before my PSLE in October, she gave us extra lessons during the holidays and sometimes after school if we were free. She sacrifised her free time for marking and doing other things for us. I think that it should be the correct thing for a teacher to do for his/her students.

I don't know what to write already! Hahaha.
To all teachers out there, enjoy your day! :D

Journal Writing 3 - Siyi

gee~ last min forgot bout this journal writing.. *pif* such a hard topic for me..!! *ma ika!* <--don't need care ^^

1) What are the qualities of a good teacher..?

*silence..* Well, I'm not really sure about what makes a good teacher. However, i believe that the basic qualities of a good teacher must include being kind to students(but not too kind until got bullied), understanding(stress of students, etc), knows how to teach in order to let his students understand what is he teaching about(not like Mr Kaan..*no offense*), sometimes includes FUNNY jokes during the lesson(to make it more interesting) and NEVER EVER use violence on students(may cause phobia to students. like me..)

2)Tell me about your favourite teacher. He/She can be from your primary school or secondary school. Share about an incident which is particularly memorable to you. If you don't have a favourite teacher, share why is that so.(*Pif* This question muted me..)

It's needless to say, as I stated above, i had phobia against teacher. So, how did i even have a favourite teacher? Well, i don't really remember any of my teachers in my primary schools, except a horrible experience. *Should I really type it out? ^^ Don't think so XP*

Let's move on.. So, why i don't have a favourite teacher? It's simple! Whenever i sees a teacher, i stiffened up. I don't really communicate with teachers well and sometimes i tried to avoid them. I was afraid of teachers more then in secondary school. Why..? It's just because that i wanted to get rid of my phobia. I tried many times but yet I can't. ^^ I don't really hate teachers. Instead, i respect them..*rubbish I'm typing* However, if i have a choice, i would rather have a teacher that is not so easily bullied by students.*Nothing else to type.. Going more off topic..* But, a teacher like my primary school teacher should NOT be a way to teach students to obey.

This thing causes my phobia to get worst. I still remembered her face, her *treatment* towards students. That time, if i hadn't remembered wrongly, I was in primary 2 or 4..? *ahh!! i forgot!!*
However, i still could remember her name. *Let's name her Mrs N* Since the beginning of the year, Mrs N had been treating her students like trash. She uses violence, such as slapping the student on his face, pulling earlobes and using book/paper to hit on student head*not sure how hard it was* If you didn't bring a textbook/homework or pencil case for writing(whatever she needs to use), Mrs N would punish that person. I still remembered a horrible thing that happened to my friend. It happened after recess and she forgot to change into school uniform. Mrs N told her to change in front of the whole class. She cried but still obey. Mrs N is unreasonable! Isn't she? Even with small matters like not bringing a green pen for correction(such as pen no more ink reasons not accepted), or any other things, she would either slap/pull the ear. Of course, i had it once before. It made my phobia worst and i almost felt like crying. I was wondering why she didn't get sacked for the next year.

For no reason, whenever a teacher scolds/reprimanded me, i would feel like crying. However, it's not so worst as in now. I was very weak in primary school and thus very easily cry for no reason. I have more friends in secondary schools to support me and always there for me. Also, there are few numbers of teacher's there for me as well.. ^^ Not to mention who as i hadn't approached any yet.

Ek!! Is it off point? Opps.. I just typed what i think that's related.. ^^ *I'm hopeless* Please do not comment anything about my post. Thanks!

EOY IS COMING! EVERYONE, STUDY!!

Journal Writing 3 - Dini xD

First of all..
HAPPY TEACHERS DAY!
(in advance)
Qualities of a good teacher!~~~:
- patient
-understanding
-can teach well
-must not "spam" us with piles of homework/projects and expect it to be done the next day.
(dunno wad else.. i can't think properly right now anyway wagagaga)
Favourite Teacher?
I don't have a favourite teacher because I believe that all teachers are doing their best in their jobs and maybe i'm just unappreciative (is that even a word?).
But teachers who have helped me or at least impacted me (in primary school) are:
-Ms Chai (primary1-6)
-Mdm Yap (primary3&4)
-Mrs Lee (primary5&6)
Well the 1st teacher Ms Chai wasn't exactly nice when I was in primary one and two. I guess she just doesn't know how to handle young children.
She was always criticising people anyway, which is bad for a form teacher >:(
But she was nicer when i was in primary 4 to 6 hahaha. She teaches social studies and health education for my classes lol!
2nd teacher Mdm Yap was a very nice and cheerful teacher.
She is well liked by the class and was understanding and sensitive to every student's feelings. One time i broke my foot and coudn't come to school, she sent me a giant get well card that was also signed by my classmates.
And she comes to see how i was doing a few times and bought small presents for me yay~!
Then she gave one of my classmates a giant cheer up card cause his cousin just died afew days ago, but he didn't tell anyone about it.
Mrs Lee my 3rd form teacher was very patient and understanding well that is until my class crossed the line and she became very frustrated by the end of the 2nd year she taught us :P. She was worried about our PSLE but some students in my class were still fooling around.
She always encourages people to do their best and to aim higher.
Ok as for secondary school all the teachers that are fun, kind, understanding and patient~~!!
like: Mrs Luke :D, Ms Katie Goh :D, Ms Gordon :P, Mr Wamback (sry if wrong spelling!),Mr Poh.(just to name a few) ok thats it xD
+*~END~*+
Sorry for the late entry~!

Well,of all the teachers i've known,I think so far only three teachers managed to have all the qualities I've listed above. They are my primary 5 teacher, Mrs Chua, primary 6 teacher, Mrs Chong and Secondary 1 teacher,Mrs Luke. All of them are my form class teacher of different year. I don't know which is my favourite teacher, but all of them seems to be equal.
well, shafiqah is same class as me since p5 so we share the same teacher. From shafiqah's experience, I sense Mrs chua's caring personality. ya. and for all 3 teachers listed above, they all are willing to lend a listening ear to me whenever i met with problems and they also show kindness and care towards me. They also cheered me up too. I think that's makes them my favourite teacher. yup. :D they make great things for us too.. XD

Journal Writing 3 - Abel Goh

Qualities of a good teacher ,

Frankly speaking, I personally believe that a good teacher should have some good qualities like passion and wisdom to teach , love for students, clear understanding of students' welfare and such.

*i will use 'she' as teacher in my post.

I will start off with passion and wisdom, a good teacher firstly have to love teaching, love until the heart drop! With passion, i believe that the teacher will teach with enthusiasm and the students will absorb what he/she is teaching.

Wisdom, a good teacher have to know what she's teaching, she have to understand situations and sometimes, share great experiences with students and thus , motivation comes. Hence too, the teacher will be able to handle difficult problems under different circumstances.

Love and Understanding, to love is an affection to one, with love, teachers care and help, they will help us when we are in need. They will shower us with care and give us encouragement. Understanding takes some time to evaluate. From this, teachers will show patience in getting know more about students, their family condition, rationale of some behaviours and attiitudes. Lastly, we can see close interaction between teachers and students.

So you are interested to know who my favourite teacher is? let me share some experiences....

P4, name's ms Lim Kai Leng, still remembered her name....i was supposed to be in 4-3(third class) but somehow, i was transferred to 4-1 (first class) , i was shocked, definitely. Then i asked my form teacher. 'You deserve to come to 4-1 because you are such a good boy.' Does it make sense? Life in the 1st class is hard, you get some type of treatment and you often get isolated. My grades are like the lowest in clz? ok, so she did showed love... year passed with painful stares and remarks....

I was appointed to the 5-6. wad the hell? ok, P5, ms lee yuan fan, form teacher, she's kind and strict? ok, the year passed with same thing, remarks, comments about me, my grades was the top 3. P5, ms Lim is like ignoring my prescence in school....

P6 , 6-3, i made it back up, mdm wendy wong, i think she's my favourite teacher. She's funny and such, she's experienced ... okok, she helped me in making gd choices lyk not choosing NA over Express. .... okokok, so on....

ok, my P6 years went bumby slopy... teachers from previous years all totally pretend that i never exist, once, they asked for my help, then they just left....i dont remember any thankyou.

.... There's too much to say and i do not want to carry on.....without mdm wendy wong's strong words to me , i would have ended up in DSS N(A), coz i had a foolish thinking , coz if i am in normal, i can go to much better schools with 224. mdm wong showed me care and understanding, she was incharged in TAF and she was always motivating, telling me my mistakes.... thankyou very much. And also, to all teachers that have taught me, wish you all in advance, happy teacher's day.

What are the qualities of a good teacher?
-Caring

My favourite teacher, well, I don't really think about it in secondary school, because I trust none of them. I have a favourite teacher in primary school. She was my form teacher when I'm primary 6. She was the teacher in charge of scouts then, and teaches us mainly all subject including P.E. She never fails to make lessons interesting and she was a very justice person, she punish those who make mistakes and even treat us if all of us were good. She leaves me the best impression because she was strict, but none of us in the class hate her. I think she was the favourite teacher too in our class. Whenever she sees us seemed to be tired after a long lessons, she would tell us joke to cheer us up. Also, she shares her stories when she was in Vietnam doing volunteer teaching those poor students at there. She also have an "adopted" son at there. But sadly, she leaves my primary school after we graduated. She told us she was going to a church to teach. I don't know the place where she is teaching now, and thus, could not make a trip to visit her. However, she was the favourite teacher I ever had.

Happy teacher's day!! =)

This week's topic: Teachers' Day! :)

to all 2e2' teachers,

happy teacher day to you,
happy teacher day to you,
happy teacher day to......you,
happy ...teacher ...day .... to ......you!!

I) What are the qualities of a good teacher? (Please be realistic!)
*Understanding

*Patient
*Happy
*Serious

II) Tell me about your favourite teacher. He/She can be from your primary school or secondary school. Share about an incident which is particularly memorable to you. If you don't have a favourite teacher, share why is that so.

My beloved teacher was Mdm Nerwati and Mdm Wendy Tan. Well, Mdm Nerwati was my form teacher for Primary 5 and 6. She fulfilled all the qualities i named out in the first question. She was a caring and serious teacher in my mind. She taught me maths and gradually my maths improve significantly and i am quite contented with the results. I remember when i was struggling with my maths one time, she came by and sat down beside me, asking if i had met any difficult problems or there is something about maths that i would like to ask her. I requested her to be my temporary tuition teacher for the time being until i found a tuition teacher. She teach me after school when i needed her. She even stay back as late as 6pm to teach me maths.I believe that she can go home on time but instead she sacrificed her time to teach me. It is quite hard to find this kind of teacher nowadays. She dote on me and i love her being my form teacher. i had a great time in my primary 5 and 6 life.
Next, Mdm Wendy Tan, she was my primary 2 form teacher, although she had only taught me one year but the impression she gave me was rather memorable. I remembered that she was a nice and sweet teacher like Ms Katie Goh, both of them look really sweet to me. She always make the lessons interesting and fun, I am always looking forward for her lesson everyday. She likes to smile a lot and she is a very understanding lady . I remember that i fell down during PE lesson and i cried, she quickly rushed down to get the first aid box for me and carry me to a corner to apply the medicine. She even sent me home that day and told my mother about what happened in school. This was the first time a teacher ever sent me home and called to my home about my injury.
i believed that small things that each teacher do will accumulate and become a big issue in student's heart.

teachers can be wonderful sometimes.

okok. good day everybody
good luck for all the small and big tests.

Journal Writing 3 - Shafiqah Nurul

Teacher's day is coming yeah! Happy teacher's day in advance =D

Qualities of a good teacher:
-Must be caring
-Understanding and make people understand
-Not to differentiate students just because of class gaps
-Spend some quality time with the students, not just "STUDY STUDY STUDY!"
-Reasonable, as in not to give so much homework to us in a short amount of time, we are not robots
-Do not blame students, thus they won't blame you as well
-Smile!

My favourite teacher is Mrs Chua, a teacher who taught me in Primary 5. She's my favourite teacher because on the 13th of February 2004, I had a surgery. I had tumour cancer and it needed to be removed. It was not such a serious cancer and the removal was nothing much. After a night at the hospital, I stayed in my grandmother's house. While I was there, Mrs Chua came and brought some stuff. It was really nice of her to bring goodies for me. She even brought a stack full of Get Well cards from my classmates. They were so fun to read, I even kept it until now. I had MC for 2 weeks, when I came back to school, it was a day before CA1. Mrs Chua requested that I am excused for the exams. Because of her, I can rest for the whole exam period at home. My record showed VR, valid reason. After the exams period are over, I worked hard to buck up my studies. She helped me a lot, and I succeeded. I got highest for my Mathematics, it was a miracle. The whole year, my classmates and I could see how much she cared for her students, and how we were so fortunate to have such a teacher. She even broke down and cried in class because she wanted to tell the story of her ex-student getting in jail. I was moved by her compassion in being a teacher.

Wahhh so long XD lol I had to tell the whole story, or else everyone would be confused hehe.

1st part
What are the qualities of a good teacher(please be realistic)

I think if a good teacher must be caring and friendly and can teach well. This way , if we have met some problems regarding the subject, we would dare to go and ask the teacher as he/she very friendly and also that subject that the teacher teach we will get high marks as that teacher teach well so a good teacher will have you to score well in examinations.
A teacher should also be understanding and smart. This way , they will know how much stress we have and how much homework we have. It's alot!So that they can reduce our stress by giving us less homeworks and a teacher must be kind and lenient as this way our test paper we will get quite high marks if the teacher is lenient.

2nd part
Tell me about your favourite teacher. He/She can be from your primary school or secondary school. Share about an incident which is particularly memorable to you. If you don't have a favourite teacher, share why is that so.

Favourite teachers are those that have good qualities and you like them. One example is during my primary school , my subject teacher who is my favourite teacher is very kind.He doesn't give so much homework and most impotantly he understands us.He play the same online computer game with us to communicate with us.He doesn't give us stress and teach well.He is also very helpful as if i don't anything about the subject , i can ask him for help and he would help me.Such teachers are seldom seen.
He is the best teacher you can ever have. However sometimes he can stubborn as he won't change his mind after he had done his choice. But in conclusion, he is a good teacher and is my favourite teacher.

HAPPY TEACHERS DAY! ;DDDDDDD

-What are the qualities of a good teacher?

A Teacher Is…
Someone who is wise...
Who cares about the students and wears no disguise.
But is honest and open and shares from the heart.
Not just lessons from books, but life where you are.
A teacher takes time to help and tutor.
With English or math or on a computer.
It's Miss _____ who's patient, even in stress.
Who never gives less than the very best.
Not that I was the perfect student,
But you were the perfect teacher for me. ;)

- Tell me about your favourite teacher. He/She can be from your primary school or secondary school. Share about an incident which is particularly memorable to you. If you don't have a favourite teacher, share why is that so.

I have quite a number of favourite teachers. :P My favourite teachers are Mrs Ivy Lee, Ms Valencia Ang (Primary School) and from Dunearn 3 teachers. They are Miss Kelly Chia, Mr Alvin Ng and Miss Katie Goh. Miss Goh, don't you feel honoured? HAHAHA. :) Mrs Lee is a very nice teacher. She can be strict and scary (not really scary lah -.-) and she can be fun and nice. Actually i'm one of the students she dotes on. Hahaaha she's not biased though. I was very good in my work (english) in P6 and before PSLE came, she told us to try our very best. Yes, i did. However, i was not qualified to go to my dream school. She also told us that she would not be writing any appeal letters for any students at all. I told my mum that, yet she still asked me to persuade Mrs Lee to write an appeal letter for me. So i went to ask Mrs Lee, knowing that she wouldn't write it. To my surprise, she said that she will only write it for me but i wasn't allowed to tell anyone or else it would be useless. (She's not biased lah! is she?) yeah this my story. (like no point T,T)

OH YAH, i totally forgot about my teachers from Hong Kong! My form teacher in Hong Kong in Primary 4. She's very sweet and kind. The story goes like this:

I was going over to Singapore soon. I told my Hong Kong friends and teachers, i saw the look on their faces when i announced it. I didn't want to leave either. I love my friends, teachers and my family {father side} in Hong Kong but my mum wants me to leave HK for better education in Singapore. Well, i had no choice. The last day of school, i gave many of my friends farewell gifts. I couldn't believe my teacher organised a surprise farewell party just for me! I was so touched. The party was FUN! I cherished those last moments with my beloved friends and teachers. I went home with 2 BIG bags of presents 2 from my teacher and more than 10 from my friends. You people rock man! :)

For Dunearn teachers, i have to say that Ms Kelly Chia motivated me quite alot. She gave me the courage through Christ and she taught me alot of useful things. :) Mr Alvin Ng is the one who can always cheer me up although he doesn't really notice. For Miss Katie Goh hor, this one ah no hope. hahaha no lah. You're doing great okay. Much better than our previous English teacher. SHHHHHH! :X Thank you so much for spending so much time on me. :]

TEACHERS ROCK ON YEAH! ;D

`The best teachers teach from their hearts, not the books.

Journal Writing 3- Angeline

Okay. Its my turn!

PART 1
What are the qualities of a good teacher?
To me a good teacher can:
- Teach well
-Make people laugh
-Not make the students feel stressed during the lessons
-UNDERSTANDING :D
-Forgiving!

PART 2
Who is my favourite teacher?

Actually, I never thought about it seriously before. I feel that there is one teacher, who taught me for 2 years in primary 5 and 6, has left me a very deep impression. He makes lessons interesting by telling us jokes and later continue with the lessons. He was quite a comedian. In class photos, he will join in the fun with us. He is a really fun teacher. I always looked forward to his lessons everyday although he only taught English. I feel very relaxed during his lesson. He will help us with problems that we face. Although our problems may seem small, he still listens attentively and gives us good advice.

That's all! Have fun reading! BYE!

Part 1:

What are the qualities of a good teacher? (Please be realistic)

For me, a good teacher must be:
caring
understanding
make the lesson more interesting
don't give floods of homework
*drum roll...*
and of course, he or she must teach well.

Part 2:

Tell me about your favourite teacher. He/She can be from your primary school or secondary school. Share about an incident which is particularly memorable to you. If you don't have a favourite teacher, share why is that so.

Who is my faovourite teacher? I don't think I have any favourite teacher. but the teacher that gave me a very deep impression is none other than my Primary School teacher, Ms Goh.

Yup... still remeber that time, our class is totally hopeless but she did not give up. Gave us floods of homeworks. Lots of extra lessons to make sure that all of us understand what the chapter is about. Yeah... most of us improve lots and went to a better class the following year (:

Don't really have a favourite teacher but only got a teacher that leave a very deep impression in my mind (:

Journal Writing 3 - Norlyana! (:

Hello world! Ha. (:

Part 1.

Alright. So, the qualities of a good teacher. Let me be realistic.

- Cheerful. Having a face that you do not want to smack. Hee. (:
- Must know what they are teaching.
- They have to try to understand and know the student better.
- They must be able to make the lesson interesting.

Yeah. So that's what I think makes a good teacher. Heh.

Part 2

I don't really have a favourite teacher and its because I find them all the same. They just teach me. No teacher in particular have actually helped me personally. I guess its bacause I don't try to seek help with teachers or something or teachers are actually trying to help me with my problems but I just don't realise it.

That's all fr my post today. Have fun reading. Much loves! (:

Journal Writing-esTEHr

I) What are the qualities of a good teacher? (Please be realistic!)

I'm being realistic.
I say a good teacher must be good.
Define good.
Good in my POV ( Point of view) means opposite of bad.
Okay, I'm seriously crapping.

Right. Qualities of a good teacher................
Good teacher is one who makes a lesson interesting.
Good teacher is one who makes the lesson funny.
Good teacher is one who allows us to have breaks.
Good teacher is one who is willing to give us chances when we forget our stuff.
Good teacher is one who will not nag ( like as if we do not have enough at home)
Good teacher is one who will respect us, students.

Heh. Yea.

II) Tell me about your favourite teacher. He/She can be from your primary school or secondary school. Share about an incident which is particularly memorable to you. If you don't have a favourite teacher, share why is that so.

No teacher so far has ever been so memorable and impacted me alot before. I'm real sorry to say that. (seriously im being realistic, dont ask me to re-do this, this is from the bottom of my heart and im not critisizing you, teachers.)

Journal Writing 3 - beNediCt :) !!!

Hi this is me again !!

For the 1st Part
1)What are the qualities of a good teacher? (Please be realistic!)

For me I think that being a good teacher of cause have to be good to students that always the first aspect. Because being good to the students, then the students will tend to leave a good impression on that teacher. 1 of them I can currently think of is of cause Mr.Poh who have just leave the school. What a sad case! The next quality a good teacher should have is that he or she can teach the students. Because if the teacher cannot teach then how would the students be able to score good grades for our tests and our SA. Although some teachers would say that self study is the most important but i do not think so. Without the teachers advices, we would not be studying. If we do not know how to do a question then who should we ask?

A teacher should also understand we students like how we sometimes think for teachers. The teacher should not give to much homework as although YOU teachers think that by giving 2 homeworks isn't to much than you are all wrong teacher. Because if all the teacher all think this way then the students will be flood with many homeworks. I think all teachers also have a hard time marking we students work so I think we should help each other! Teachers don't give so much work and we students will not give the teacher CRAPPY works!

Okay, we will end here how question 1 and I will proceed with question 2 without further ado.

For the 2nd Part
2)Tell me about your favourite teacher. He/She can be from your primary school or secondary school. Share about an incident which is particularly memorable to you. If you don't have a favourite teacher, share why is that so.

Actually, I do not have any favourite teachers and if I really do than I will have lots of favourite teachers. Because for me, I think that if a teacher can fulfill all the conditions that I have stated in the 1st part then I think he or she is a good teacher and is my favourite teacher. I think that a lot of teachers can fulfill at the top stated in part 1 just that they do not want it. I can share 1 situation which is the best of the best teacher in my life I think although I think all teachers are good.

He taught me for 2 years in my primary school life which is primary 3 and 4. I think he is the best of the best because he is really really kind to us as in he is very friendly. Example if we did not finish our homework, he will talk to us very nicely and then give us grace period to do the work even if we forget. He is also very helpful because when I lost my notes, he will reprint it for me. He has lots of students respect. He had never scold me during these 2 years in my primary school life even if I did the wrong thing. He can teach well too. I remember there was once he teach me how to do a certain question than in the exam it came out I remember what he said and I apply it on the test then I got that question correct. He is also very understanding, when we complain to him that we have lots of work to do, then he will tend to give us as little as he could even if he take away 1 homework, we will be very happy too. He is my Idol!!

Okay, i have finish publishing.

SEE YOU GUYS AGAIN!!!!

~END~

Journal Writing 3 - Ng WeiLin =)

A good teacher must of course have the capability to teach the students. You had to be responsible, helpful, understand the students etc.
Some teachers who lost your assignment would admit it and apologise to you but you had to redo everything from the beginning.
Some teachers would act innocent and claim that you didn't hand in the assignment to her.
Don't be surprised, there are some teachers who are so irresponsible.

Hmm... I do not have any special favourite teachers. Just merely understand what they did to me is for my own good.
My primary 5 and 6 form teacher, she taught me for two years. She will cut out newspaper articles and paste it on the notice board every Monday. We then had to choose one of the articles and write about your personal opinion.
She also shared with the class the experiences she had.
She prepared us for secondary school which we had to take about the double of the subjects we already had.
She always reminds us not to be influenced by the people outside as in the gangster.
She told the class that being a gangster is totally a dumb decision.
She said that her ex-students came back and they told her about their life in secondary school and most of them regretted joining the gang.
When you had problems, just tell her about it and she will be a counselor and give you some advices. She will be fair to each and everyone, if you did not do your project, you will not get the credits.
She also reminds us not to be involved in BGR as BGR cannot last and it is just a waste of time and don't let it affect our studies.
From her, I learnt a lot. I learnt how to think for my future. For 2 years, under her teachings and care, I had grown a lot.
Without her, maybe I will be having attitude problems which everyone hates. I used to ignore people whenever they talk to me but ever since I became her students, I had changed for the better. She is a good teacher. I bow to her.

Journal Topic 3

Hey my dearies (don't puke),

Time for blogging again! This week's topic: Teachers' Day! (Since Teachers' Day is coming :p) This post will be dedicated to your favourite teacher.

I) What are the qualities of a good teacher? (Please be realistic!)
II) Tell me about your favourite teacher. He/She can be from your primary school or secondary school. Share about an incident which is particularly memorable to you. If you don't have a favourite teacher, share why is that so.

Have fun!

Journal Writing 02 -Azimah

01.Part One

  • Who are your best friends in life?

My best friends in life are usually those that could be trusted one. 'Best friends don't happen to be there. They're just there.' This so called phrase is very very true as you can see. Best friends will always be there for us and they rarely let you down. All these may not usually succeed but they always try to make you smile to replace that angry frown. They are just there for you when you need a helpful lift. They guards your secret seriously like a special gift. Best friends are also known as true friends. To all my true friends: I hope i'm the friend to you like you are to me.Cause friendship that we share is a special one indeed.

See me trusting you and i'll always smile whenever i'm with you. You'll know and you'll feel it yourself if you're my true friend and my best friend. =)

  • Are they of the same race as you?

Friends that i'm always with or i'm close with and have the same race as me don't mean that they are my best friend. I'm not much of a racist. Haha. My true friends aren't always Malay. In fact, my chinese friends are much more closer to me than my malay friends. I'd prefer to be Chinese than being a malay. Couldn't understand myself why but surely i have a reason for being that way. I love Chinese people! Not neglecting my malay friends. I love my friends! Yay!

02. Part Two

01.Character

Basically to me, character is the most important factor to choose a friend. Their attitude and stuffs is the most important one. It would be much more better if they have the same interest as you. Most of my friends have the same interest as me and most of them are musicians. Maybe people with same interest would get them closer together. But even so if your friend don't have the same interest as you, you can try out different suffs with them and you could understand other people better. Look out to the big world. Not only to the people living around you. The way different and each individual person/people do things are so unique. Not everyone do the same stuffs together. Not many people understand the expression of music and even art. It's just so different which makes each of us are ourselves. Life isn't as simple as it may seem.

02.Circumstances

People who is your classmate, groupmate, and even have the same cca as you or etc. would usually mean that they know you much more better as they always see you and are always with you, isn't it? Which means then, obviously circumstance is important but not as important as character.

03.race

To me, race isn't important but since there are no more other options, i guess i feel that race is much more important than gender. I don't mind race that much when choosing a friend.

04.gender

Gender refers to girls and guys. There's not much of a problem with me with gender but girls are usually more understanding than guys. Not to say that guys aren't understanding. Not all guys have the same attitude. Guys can also take care of girls's feelings. It just depends on who the guy is that we're refering to. Girls usually understand girls better. But there's nothing wrong to have a guy friend. We could understand each other's gender better and who knows, even learn from them some things such as how to be strong in everything and how to control your tears?

05.age

Age don't matter to me at all except there's really a big gap, then it's over.

03.Do you think Racial Harmony Day has served it's purpose?

To me, probably yes as we could understand each other's culture more now and we could learn from each other.

Journal Writing 2- Nur Dini T_T

Part One.

1)I don't really consider if the person is my best friend or not because i'm the type of person that does not really bother about contacting friends during long holidays/after they move overseas or far away. I guess i'm just contented with having someone to talk to everyday or something? 0_o?? not sure la. I don't even really know my "best friends" in primary school. But my closest friends now are shafiqah and si yi. :D
2)Shafiqah is malay and Si Yi is chinese (DUH!!).
3)I find it would be very boring if you only have friends of the same race. And you may not be very open mided to other races, practices or religions if you don't have friends from other races. d:

Part Two.

1) Character
The most important thing about friendship is character. If you find that the person is a very annoying/heartless/whatever you hate type of person, you would surely try to avoid this type of people. First Impressions should also be good as people would normally jump to conclusions about what type of person you are. It is normal to judge a book by its cover.

2) Gender

I think gender is important because different genders act differently and also like different stuff.
But sometimes you can find girls that are like guys [this is a little normal] and guys that are like girls [omg creepy!!!]. Usually girls they talk about TV shows or superstars or their problems or stuff. But I find that SOME guys always talk about GAMES GAMES GAMES AND MORE GAMES like dota, maple, granado espada, warcraft & counter strike [wow!!]. I know some girls also play these games >:D. So basically we are different and it depends how we get along.

3) Age

Well, age IS important as we have different opinions. Adults usually disagree with our actions as they have already experience something like what we are going through though it may be different, it might be similar and they don't want us to make the same mistakes as them. And of course you can't talk to your grandma about games or fashion or teen stuff [unless your grandma is cool and sporting :D]. Though I don't mind making friends with people who are at least 6 years older than me. It all depends. S:

4) Circumstances

Dunno about this ): Maybe it also depends d:

5) Race

This is unimportant because we are only of different races and race is not so much of a barrier since everyone is human. and not aliens. I suggest that any racist stop using products that are made/invented/found/etc in the country
(eg: racist against race ABC. Stop using the products that were made by race ABC at any time. if they invented water 1000yrs ago, you CANNOT use water ok? GOOD)

Part Three.
Do you think racial harmony day served its purpose?

YES. We are reminded that we live in a multi-racial country and must work together. We must understand different cultures and why they do things. Also they gave out a magazine that showed that through the co-operation of different races people have "invented" unique food :D

Part One (who are the best friends in your life)

I have a best friend (i think)...and because of him... i came to this school (am i stupid or wad?)
he's in the same school as me. We'r in different classes. We talk only when we meet and seldom
approach each other. I met him when I started primary school. We did alot of things together.
In the end he had to shift house and left me when we were primary two. We kept in contact
for the 4 years after that. Despite my house was hell far from this school. I still came. Now...
it weren't like before. We talked much less. Is he still my best friend?

Part Two

Character:

Everyone likes friends with good character. Who doesn't?

Circumstances:

To be frank... i don't know wad is the word above this line.

Age:

As long he isn't related to me by blood. He is my friend

Gender:

Gender doesn't matter.

Race:

Oh. Race. I love Racing, who wants to play Daytona raise your hands!!!!
(ok.. race doesn't matter)

(i'll add another point)
Background, disabilities and looks

As long they are okay with it. what if i tell you i am a liar...?

Part 3

Racial Harmony = peace between races

Journal Writing 2- Lee Pin Hui (:

Part One
Best friends are really hard to come by.I found myself really very fortunate to have many best friends in my life, especially Beloved Eights. We are all from the same races but some are in different classes. Not just chinese friends,I do have some malay and indian friends too.No matter what is the races you are in,I will still treat you as well if we can get along.I believe that trust and how friends communicate are the most important thing between friends. The races you are does not matter at all.

Part Two
1.Character
2.Circumstances
3.Age
4.Gender
5.Race

Character
Everyone have their bad points and good points.Everyone have their own characters too, which is important when we are getting along with friends. If both character does not match, then it will really be very difficult for them to be force to be friends.Nobody wants a friend with bad character. Therefore we must always be careful when choosing our friends. Before that, you yourself show also have good character so that people will like and enjoy to be with you.

Circumstances
CCA friends, schoolmates, classmates are important people in our life.We have to work together in project work and projects, which is especially important in our secondary school life.We must help one another and learn to work together as a group.Without them, you will never be perfect.

Age
I think age at times really matters,as it is really hard to communicate with someone older than you.Our thinking and feelings towards something may be alot different. Friends whose age are closer to us can communicate better and easier. Our feelings and thoughts will be closer and better to share our feelings and things with them.At times,we will need someone older than us to guide us along our road when the challenges ahead gets tougher.Their wise words and advise will benefit us as they had went though alot of problems and have alot of experience.

Gender
I don't think that this matters at all.We should always make friends with people of the opposite gender.I believe that there is people whose best friend is of the opposite gender. We are all the same.Just don't care about other people's views and do the things you thing it is right.

Race
Obvisely, this does not matters. We are all the same as I said.We like one another and enjoy being friends with different races. We can even learn and understand each another's culture and religious.Learn to respect one another and communicate.

Part Three
I think racial harmony day served its purpose. It is a very meaningful day.We can learn more about the different races's cultures and traditions, which we do not learn during lesson time.We learn not to be racist and help one another in all ways.We even get to play games, celebrate the day and try out new stuff. In fact,we should celebrate it everyday.

Enjoy!Have a nice day!:D

Journal Writing 2 - Joey

Who are my best friends in life?
I have many best friends in life. They are from the Military Band and some of them are from my class. After my arrival in this school then I've realised what is called 'Best Friend'. Only when I came here, only when I've got to know many friends from this school then I realised. You can basically call everybody that I can get along with well my Best Friends! Well, there may be times when I really got help from these BEST FRIENDS where I treasure it.

Are they of the same race as you?
They are of different races. Chinese and Malays. I won't be racist and only talk to Chinese and not Malays. If you are racist, then you'll miss a whole lot of friends. A whole lot of truthful friends.

Gender
Age
Race
Character
Circumstances (eg. classmate, groupmate, cca-mate)

Character-1
I ranked character as the most important one because I feel that the character is the main idea to get a true friend, a good friend. If a person's character is bad, I wouldn't want to get along with him/her. So I feel that it is the most important.

Circumstances-2
It's obvious that if the people are your classmates, groupmates or cca-mates you know them better and you see them more often. For example cca, most of us, we would love the cca that we chose so we would have friends who have the same interest with us in the cca. Hence, you would get along with them better. Classmates, we are in a same class, we always meet each other. You would surely find someone that you can be with together as friends. So, I feel that this is also important.

Age-3
Maybe age would be the 3rd most important factor in the friendship. Some teenagers wanted to feel mature, therefore they went to chatrooms to meet friends of ages in their twenties. It is also dangerous to get to know friends of a very different age. You might not know what that adult is thinking. So best is to stick to friends about the same age.

Gender-4
Gender would be the next important factor. Some girls prefer to have friends of the same gender but there are girls who could get along better with guys. It's best to have the same number of different gender of friends. So as not to be biased to each gender.

Race-5
Race to me is really not important. All the different races should get along well with each other and not to go separate ways. I have friends of different races, but sadly I didn't really have Indian friends. We should treat every race equally and stuff. Not to categorise each race.

Do you think Racial Harmony Day has served its purpose?
To some, maybe it has serve its purpose. But for some, they don't give a damn about Racial Harmony Day. What they enjoy about is the celebration and that they could study for a shorter period of time. That's why these days, in schools, there are programmes during Racial Harmony Day for students to take part and learn about Racial Harmony and seriously, it works. Programmes which are fun and challenging are always attractive to students. They could have fun and learn at the same time. One stone kill two birds!

Journal Writing 2 - Lye Jue Ying ;DD

Part One
Currently, i don't have the BEST friend in my life because i can't find the right one. Maybe this comes later in my life? But, i do have good friends for now. Some of them are from the same race as me. But anyway, some of them are from the same race as me because we see each other more, so we interact and talk to each other more. We shouldn't discriminate other races also right? If this happens, then history will repeat itself.

Part Two
Rank :
1st: Character
2nd: Age
3rd: Circumstances
4th: Gender
5th: Race

1st: Character
If the person's character isn't good, why do we want to make friends with them? What if the person always likes to critise people, bully people, do you want to be part of them? Of course, one must have integrity and honesty in them. You don't like your friends to lie to you right?

2nd: Age
I think there will be a age gap in between. Like you can't discuss homework with them. You don't know what topic to chat with, like we may want to talk about our own school life, but they may want to talk to you about how much he earn or whatever.
But one good thing about having friends of older age is that they have more experience of life, so they can give you wise quotes ( Chwee Choon lol) or wise sayings.

3rd: Circumstances
This factor is quite neutral. Actually, classmates, CCA-mates and groupmates are quite important also. We need someone to support you, talk with you when you are lonely, sad or moody. When you are happy or angry, at least you have someone to ease out all the angers and share the happiness with your friends right?

4th: Gender
Actually, i don't really like to stick with a bunch of girls together. Sometimes it can be quite boring. You must try to make friends with the opposite sex, so you can understand them, look at the different side of view from their situation, and other stuff. They may look like bullying you, but sometimes they don't mean it right? We shouldn't be sexists ;PP

5th: Last but not least, RACE.
We should make friends of the different races, because we wanna know more of their culture right? We should understand each other if not we may hurt them without knowing it. Or aren't you all curious of their daily routines or what? Not being a stalker, but we want to know what they do during their celebration day. It does not matter who you want to make friends with, because anyone of them out there can be your friend.i would want to make friends with the japanese (:

Part Three
Do you think Racial Harmony Day has served its purpose?

YES of course. If there isn't Racial Harmony Day, we might be having world wars now. Basically there won't be peace in every single corner of the world. Do you want to see riots on the street( yay history )? We should believe in each other races and understand them.
Once again, we shouldn't practice racism.

i shall end my speech here. :D

Journal Writing 2 - WiNsToN

Part1

Best friends are important in life. They are the usually the ones who go through thick and thin with you. I only have a few best friends. I don't have many best friends though. I treat everyone the same way.(Except for some people i dislike) For people of different races, i treat them the same way too. Like Mirza who is one of my best friends, is a malay. i don't mind that. I feel that people of different races look at each other differently. For me, i do not have that same mindset as them. I feel that everyone is the same, all humans. So, everyone should be treated the same way. People of different races should live together in peace and not find fault with each other. In life, sometimes you have to give and take. Do not expect too much from anyone else. Expect what they expect from you.

Part 2

Character(1)

The attitude in which people you work with is the most important. With the right attitude, you can get things done quickly. If you work with the person with the right attitude, it will be much easier to complete the task. For the person with the right attitude, he/she have the qualities in which have the correct learning attitude, wishes to excel and gives his/her best in everything they do. With this, they have the potential to excel and do well in everything they do.

Circumstances(2)(eg. classmate, groupmate, cca-mate)

Our classmates, groupmates, cca-mates etc have something in common. We are therefore able to communicate much better with them in certain aspects. We are able to work together compared to others. We have interests in common which we both appreciate. Hence, we are better friends.

Age(3)

People of different ages have different thinking. For example, people older than us tend to have thinking that is much more mature than the younger ones. Hence, we may not be able to communicate well enough with them. But still, we can still communicate with them if we put aside our differences.

Gender(4)

Although we are of different genders, we can still be friends. We may get along really well with someone of the opposite sex. For example, i get along really well with Esther whom i regard as my best friend too. Though we are of different sex, we can still be friends or even best friends.

Race(5)

I don't really bother if others are of different race as me. As long as they are humans, its all right. They are still friends. I myself have many malay friends too. I don't look down on them. I treat them the same way i treat everyone else.

Part 3

I feel that racial harmony have indeed served its purpose. To help improve relationship between the different races. Each time racial harmony is celebrated, we learn different things from the different races. Singapore as a multi-racial society, we have to accept the different races.

Thats all i have to say. gd nite. hoped you enjoyed my journal!!!

Journal Writing 2-Gary

Part - 1
Best friends are those who help you.So Best friends are inportant to you.Best friends can come in different races and religion. So we must learnt to accept other races and religion.Different races or religion doesn't matter as long as they are true to you as a best friend.
Part - 2 1)Character
2)Circumstances
3)age
4)gender
5)race

Character is important for someone if you do not have character, then you will not be a goood person.Character helps you to build trust in someone so character is important. And you want to befriend with a person with good character right? So character is important.
Friends can help us in some circumstances like when you are not in school, they can help you to take the homework to your house for you and with friends, you will have a wider range of communication and friends are able help you.
If you befriiend someone the same age as you, it will be easier to communicate. But age is also not a problem in communication. One example is, your parents is also different age of you but can you communicate with them? You can right? So age is not quite important.
Different gender of friend is also not quite important as you can also click off quite even though you are of different gender. But if you are with your same gender, you can communicate better.
Race is not important as you still can communicate with one another even thongh you are of different race and you can also share your culture and food with your different race friends and there can be a culture exchange thus different race sometimes also can be quite good.
Part - 3
Racial harmony is important as it lets us share the different culture of the different races and we get to know the different races of food, clothes and culture. Most importantly, it teaches us to live in harmony with other racial.

Journal Writing 2-Christin Choy :]

Part 1
Actually,I never thought of this question before. Why ask who is my best friend? I just think that best friends and normal friends are same. What's the difference between best friends and normal friends? i don't really know.Well I think that I have a lot of best friends that I don't know how many I got in total..haha.uncountable.ya..my friends all are of different gender, age, race, religion. We do not need to make friends of same race or religion or whatever.Don't be anti-social!!!

Part 2
1. Character
2. Circumstances
3. Age
4. Gender
5. Race

1.Character
I think that character is the most important factor for a friend. It tells us about his/her personality.A good character will get to make more friends and more well-liked by peers, don't you agree? therefore, character is the most important factor.

2.Circumstances
CCA-mate,schoolmate,classmate,tution mate,teammates..all of them are your good good helpers..We need help from each other and teamwork for projects and stuff like that.Friends help each other."Two heads are always better that one".We need them all for different reasons like helping to correct mistakes and so on..."Two heads are always better that one".Together we strive for succeed =D

3.Age
well, for age,I think that there's a limited age for friends to make. For me,I think we can make friends with the ones who is older than us by 1-5 years and younger than us for 1-3 years too.No more smaller or older ages.If we find friends who were too young,I think we will find them childish as they always talk about "kids stuff" which already had expired for us in our teenage years. hehe. And if we find friends who were too old, let's say 20 years old,I don't think we can communicate with them as they already had an adult mind and a different concept from us-teengers.We may not understand each other's mind and thus result in less topic to talk to,very difficult to communicate. So make friends whose age are jus around us by few years. :]

4.Gender
Males and females are welcome,of course,to me.We are studying in DUNEARN SEC school,so there is no reason why we should not mix with differet gender.DUNEARN is a mix school, not a boys' or girls' school,is mix!! Secondly,we cannot possibly stick forever with girls to communicate with each other and when saw a boy, then whisper to each other saying "eh,faster siam him.Bacteria leh.Anti-boys.Go quick." or the boys saw a girl and say "girls coming liao.eeeww.faster run." It's so unpleasant and uncomfortable. Thus we mix around,at least we can understand different gender's mind concept and have more topics to talk to. XD

5.Race
Ahas..this one..one answer "yes!" We make friends with one another, not like i am chinese so i make friends with only chinese people and not malay or indian or caucasian.Race is not important, the most important thing is to feel comfortable when you are with that person. We must mix with different races so as to have racial harmony!!! We must be united with one another to make Singapore a united nation!!! PEACE all day long!!! =P

Part 3
hmmm..definitely yes!! In fact,it served a very important purpose to all.It makes us all from different family or whatever come together as a nation!! Racial harmony helps us get to know different races culture or religion culture. It makes us understand one another better. =D yaye!!

~End~

hmmm..long enough i guess? i've squeeze all the brain juice out from my brain..haah..

~final ending~

goodbye!!

~never ending~ << hehe
